The Just About Dragon's Dogma 2 launch party
As "the most vital RPG since Elden Ring" releases, come see how we're celebrating
Millions of people have been waiting over a decade for today. 12 years on from the original Dragon’s Dogma, the sequel is finally here. And we’ve got quite the launch party lined up.
So come on in, leave your axe with the ogre on the door, and let’s show you around.
House lights, down…
Our Dragon’s Dogma community opened its doors a couple of weeks ago and has been humming with excitement, like a stadium before the band comes on. Now that Dragon’s Dogma 2 is actually out, we’re at the ‘drop curtain, cue fireworks and lasers’ stage of the evening.
Our launch day bounties are live now:
We’re also delighted to be partnering once again with streamer Platform32 - also known as Ian Higton of Eurogamer’s video team - who’s given us these brilliant guest bounties:
You can watch Ian have a go at these live on Saturday (tomorrow!) from 18:00 to 20:00 UTC. Head on over to his channel, and you might just catch a couple of Just About staff there if you’d like to chat about the platform.
“The most vital RPG since Elden Ring”
The original Dragon’s Dogma was reportedly scaled down from director Hideaki Itsuno’s original vision. It still managed to sell about eight million copies, and to hover on the periphery of conversations about the best and quirkiest RPGs ever made.
It’s been clear for some time that the sequel is less a continuation than a reimagining - one that’s as big and bold as Itsuno always intended - and when we announced our community, we said we had a hunch that it could be “gaming’s next breakout hit”.
It looks like we may just be right about that. “The most vital RPG since Elden Ring,” says VGC in its review. “One of the greatest games of all time”, enthuses VG247. “The joy of discovery lies within all of us, and Dragon's Dogma 2 succeeds in evoking that magical feeling in a way no other game has before it”, gushes Eurogamer.
This is presumably the game Itsuno always wanted to make, and it seems it’s little short of a masterpiece.
So there’s really nothing else to do this weekend except pick up your copy of Dragon’s Dogma 2 and come share and celebrate everything about this wild, weird, wondrous RPG over on Just About. We’ll see you there.
