Phew. If Just About were publishing in the 1500s someone would’ve been horribly mangled in a printing press by now, because it’s been a busy week-and-a-bit for our content team.
Copious curation
Since last Monday we’ve published a muscular 16 original articles across all communities. We’re especially proud of these:
On Just About EVE, our interview with CCP Hellmar. We asked our community for questions and put them directly to the boss of their favourite game, producing an “amazing interview,” as member FUN INC put it.
On Just About Content Creators, our guide to managing the creator lifestyle. It’s the third of three very high-quality articles that fuse our community’s wisdom with that of our expert panel at the Creator Collab last month.
On Just About Video Games, our community reviews of classic games, from ongoing hits like Final Fantasy XIV and No Man’s Sky to a few that, while more obscure today, had a big impact on our members earlier in life.
In these pieces we are connecting our communities with the people who make the things they love, empowering content creators with practical advice, and giving members a place to share the games that ignited their passions, whether or not they’re remembered more widely.
It’s what Just About is all about, in microcosm.
So if you’ve not been following our community content, now’s the perfect time to take a look, and it’s easier than ever to do. We recently added ‘curated’ buttons to our nav bar so you can browse all articles published site-wide or in communities - come see.
And remember, we’re still only in Alpha. Imagine what the platform can do as we open our doors and welcome new members.
The road to beta
On which note, our tech team continues to work hard as we gear up to beta. Some of the platform’s core modules are getting a lot of focus, which will give the user experience a big shot in the arm. But until we can say more, the following tweaks have either gone out or are due this week:
Removed subdomains from permitted URLs on our auto moderator, enabling greater nuance in the content we allow from very large sites such as Reddit
No more empty notification emails
Tidier embedding, especially from tricky Twitter/X
In the meantime, we’re going to keep testing the limits of what we can do. This week, we set live an extra-ambitious bounty, giving our EVE community a full month to make a top-quality video documentary or mockumentary - and posting a total of $175 in prizes for the top three.
We can’t wait to see what people come up with.
