Just About overhauls its bounties, and is coming to Develop:Brighton!
Take a look at our slick new bounty design and celebrate with a massive $500 prize
As one of the most important elements of Just About, we need to ensure our bounties are as good as they can be. That applies not only to what they ask our members to do, but how they look and feel.
So we’ve just released a major overhaul of the bounty experience.
Today, we’ll walk you through the redesign, and tease two landmark bounties that we’re cracking over its bow to celebrate its launch. One involves Develop:Brighton, Loading Bar, and beer mats - three of our very favourite things.
Bounties, version 2
Through our bounties, we offer our members real-money rewards for making great stuff that other platforms expect for free.
That’s not only fair, but we also believe it’s unlocking more value per member; it’s why there’s such buzz on Just About even though we’re only a year old, and why we can promise outsized value to our brand partners.
No less importantly, bounties are just plain fun for our members to get involved in, which keeps them coming back. Our data show that 90% of members who enter a bounty will return to the platform.
That’s why we’ve looked anew at the bounty experience and redesigned it for elegance. Presenting the new interface on the left, vs the old on the right:
We think you’ll agree the new designs are much cleaner. The topline information - the number and size of rewards, plus icons showing the submission format - is all clearly visible around the header image (which now has a handsome shadowing effect).
The unique task description is the only other information displayed. Other details like the terms and conditions will vary less from bounty to bounty, and so can be filed in collapsible accordions. In the old design you’d have to scroll past it all, but now you can get into the submissions quicker.
So, what do you think? Hop on into the platform and let us know on this thread.
EVE: Mystery bounty
Long-time readers will know that, when our EVE Online community went live, we celebrated with a special bounty with four component stages, no briefing, and a whopping $500 reward. Those component stages have been completed over the course of the past year, and today, the time has come to take down the final boss.
The details have just gone live on the bounty page. We can’t wait to see what the community makes of our most ambitious bounty yet; if you’re an EVE player, why not get involved?
Develop:Brighton
Who’s got two thumbs and is going to Develop:Brighton next week? This platform!
We’re hosting another of our IRL collabs, with experts from the UK game industry discussing the latest issues in online communities. Specifically, these issues:
Panel 1: Sustaining a hungry community: generating lasting engagement
Panel 2: Growing a community in an ever-evolving internet
Panel 3: How to balance community and creative vision in game dev
Best of all? Attendance is free! Click here for more details and to let us know you’re coming.
We’re also thrilled to be partnering with the excellent gaming-themed Loading Bar. If you’re in Brighton next week, stop by and look out for our official branded beer mats, and if you’re not, look out for a beer mat-flipping bounty with big rewards, launching on the site over the weekend.
