Just About makes its in-game debut, and WASD wrap-up
Plus, come join Platform 32 for a Fallout guest stream!
It has been a very busy week. The team clocked tens of thousands of steps around the show floor at WASD last weekend, since when we’ve celebrated our first appearance in an actual video game. Let’s get into it.
What went well with WASD
WASD has become an annual highlight of the UK games industry, and we were on the ground to add our own little sparkle to its lustre.
We had a fab time roaming the show floor because it means we get to ‘pitch’ Just About to fans face to face. It’s hugely rewarding (and useful) to see exactly when people have that light-bulb moment, and tell us ‘I get it … this is really cool.’
Happily, that is how basically everyone reacted. We’ve welcomed many dozens of new members, met a few of our regulars in real life, and the buzz across our communities has gone from ‘healthy’ to ‘paleo-diet marathon runner’.
Want to see some of the great stuff that got made?
Fans give their thoughts on games at the show in these quickfire reviews…
And share the experience with these WASD video diaries (some of which are amazingly well-produced)
Platform 32 enters the Wasteland
We're delighted to welcome the streamer Platform 32 - aka Eurogamer's Ian Higton - back to Just About with another brace of guest bounties! We have a lot in common with Platform 32: positivity and low-toxicity are important to us both, and our communities have loved our past collaborations, so it only made sense to do it again.
To celebrate the release of the (excellent) Fallout TV show, we’re diving into Fallout 76. Check out his bounties on the platform now:
And be sure to tune into Platform 32’s stream from 6pm to 8pm BST tonight!
Just About is in EVE Online, like, actually in it
Finally, we’re celebrating a milestone moment: Just About’s first appearance within a video game. On a recent bounty we got our EVE Online players to suggest the best ways to fit your ship for a common task in the game - gas harvesting - with a slot in the in-game recommendations on offer.
Congratulations, then, to Sturmer, whose ship fitting is now officially listed in EVE Online, with an in-game link to Just About for players to check out the guide:
This is absolutely in line with one of our ambitions for Just About: content sourced from hands-on, native expertise, nurtured within a low-toxicity community that brands feel safe, even happy, to associate with.
This is only the first step.
