Creating a $6,000 moment: This Is My Elite Dangerous
Just’s biggest-ever reward and making a social media splash
Just is a menu of quality content ideas. Our members make great stuff for real-money prizes, and our brand partners get authentic grassroots content in a steady stream.
But what if we could concentrate that stream into one high-pressure burst?
That’s what we’re trying with This is my Elite Dangerous. With 50 prizes of $120 each - a total pot of $6,000 - it’s the biggest reward we’ve ever run, and though there are still a few days left, it’s already produced some of the best content we’ve ever seen.
Let’s tell you more.
What does your favourite game mean to you?
The brief for This is my Elite Dangerous is simple: make a three-minute video titled ‘This is my Elite Dangerous’. Interpret the title however you wish, but make it as good as you possibly can, and - crucially - only publish it between 14-21 April.
The reward has been live for a while, giving members plenty of advance warning ahead of a concentrated publishing window - the first time we’ve tried this format.
We’re only halfway through that window, but already blown away by the sheer quality of what our members have produced. Better yet, their videos are just as pleasingly varied as we’d hoped.
Mr Bishb0sh’s entry, for instance, is a wordless visual feast - a montage of stunning space scenes, impeccably synchronised to a rousing version of the Blue Danube.
BeetleJude took a more vocal approach. Their video is a whimsical stream of consciousness set to a series of still images, many of which are their very own - and incredibly good - pastel artwork.
jnTracks’s video is a literal take on the brief: a thoughtful account of what they get up to in Elite Dangerous and a heartfelt reflection on what the game means to them, set to gameplay footage that illustrates all its dizzying possibility.
These are just three highlights, from just halfway through the reward’s runtime - there are plenty more on the platform.
Come see, and consider: have you seen a better single set of passion-driven testimonials from real players on what’s great about the game they love?
And would you like to inspire your own players to do the same? Drop us a line.
