You may have noticed that recent newsletters have focussed on content at Just About rather than the development of the platform. What gives, right? Isn’t an Alpha supposed to be about building the product?
Our content - or rather, that of our members - is our product too, of course, and lately we’ve had a lot to celebrate in that department. But today there’s big tech news: our devs have been hard at work on a major update, and it’s now live.
Let’s tell you all about it.
Bigger, faster, safer
As we turn our eyes from building and testing the core of the product (Alpha) towards iterating and growing it (Beta), we’ll need speed, scalability, and rigorous moderation. Last week’s update is a big step forward in these areas.
Two absolutely core parts of our platform, the feed and discussions, have had thorough overhauls, with a focus on reliability at scale. If you’re a member you should notice, for instance, that discussions with many replies are much faster to load. Our auto-moderator has also been plugged into those replies, expanding this important layer of protection to much more platform activity.
And if you’re not a member, we’re glad to say that we’ve simplified our signup flow, allowing you to get an account made and into the platform far more quickly.
So best go ahead and do that here; with this update and more coming down the pipe, that ‘Alpha’ label we’ve got on the platform is looking a bit stale, and we all know being an early adopter is cool.
Mind on mission
Elsewhere we launched a new column on JAJA: Feature Friday, a kind of pre-weekend digest of the best member posts across the platform. As we grow, we want to shine a light on quality wherever it comes from, and make members aware of what they may be missing in other communities.
Plus, a shoutout to a new bounty in Just About Content Creators, which we hope will demystify the process of getting a brand deal. In all things, whether it’s building our tech or what we do with it, we’re keeping our core mission firmly in mind: to celebrate and support authentic grassroots content. Come back to the platform and see how:
